If Term 1 didn’t quite go to plan – maybe you lost track of due dates, felt unsure about how online study works, or struggled to stay motivated – you’re not alone. The good news? Term 2 is a fresh start.
Whether you’re a first-year student still figuring things out, or a returning student looking to reset your study routine, the Murray River Study Hub is here to support you.
Now, let’s get into the good stuff. Here’s our 5-step guide to help you find your flow in Term 2 – whether you’re hitting reset or just getting started.
1. Participate in Zoom classes
We know – turning on your camera or unmuting your mic can feel awkward. But getting involved (even just a quick “hey!” or asking a question) can make a big difference. It helps your tutor put a face to the name and reminds your classmates you’re part of the team. And who knows – those small moments might just lead to new study buddies.
2. Read the course outline
If you skipped this in Term 1, no judgement – but now’s the perfect time to get across it. Your course outline is basically a cheat sheet for the semester: it shows you what’s due, when it’s due, and what your tutor expects. Once you know what’s ahead, planning your time (and avoiding last-minute panic) becomes way easier.
3. Experiment with note-taking
Not loving how you took notes last term? Time for a fresh approach. Try digital, handwritten, colour-coded, printed slides – whatever clicks with your brain. We recommend checking out OneNote – it’s like a tidy digital binder where you can create tabs for each subject, organise lecture content, and even search your notes instantly. Total lifesaver.
4. Bookmark the online library
Trust us – future-you will be grateful when those big assignments roll around. Your uni’s library has loads of peer-reviewed articles, complete with ready-to-go citations (yes please). Save it to your browser now so it’s one less thing to think about later.
5. Ask for help
Everyone hits a roadblock – whether it’s tech issues, confusing content, or just feeling out of your depth. You’re not alone, and support is always close by. The Study Hub is here to back you up with advice, tools and encouragement. If you’re stuck or unsure, reach out to us at info@mrsh.org.au or info@fsh.org.au – we’ve got you.
