The Murray River Study Hub is doing things a little differently to your typical uni O-week this month, and instead is holding two Open Days, providing newly enrolled, and prospective future students, a chance to talk face-to-face with uni lecturers, successful graduates and career advisors.
The Riverland event, to be held on Wednesday, 26 February (11am–3pm), and the Murraylands event, to be held on Thursday, 27 February (10am-4pm), will include interactive demonstrations, access to education leaders from CQUni and Flinders University, sit-down sessions with experienced career development advisers and insights from a panel of highly-successful local uni alumni.
Both events provide the opportunity talk through individual options for online study in a supportive and informal environment, for people from all backgrounds. This model also ensures access for high school students who want to make a quick visit, or others keen to explore their future – and there will be a chance to meet the people who will be supporting them through their university study.
For others, it’s a time to explore whether online university could work for them, by hearing about the opportunities and support that come with this style of study.
Completing your degree online gives you the same industry qualification and significance as someone who chose a traditional mode of study. If anything, your ability to study online proves your increased capabilities in the space of time-management, responsibility, initiative, autonomous project management, proactivity and commitment – all skills desired by employers.
MRSH leaders believe the open days are a one-stop-shop for questions on online university study and encouraged all enrolled students, prospective students, stakeholders, industry representatives and others to come along.
Not only will we have our student advisors there to give you details of the hundreds of courses available, but we’ll also have experts from our partner universities, providing insights into the support and resources students receive throughout their degree.
It’s important for people to realise that there are a number of pathways to achieve their preferred uni degree, and our team can help map these out.
There will also be local university graduates, now forging successful careers locally, at the open days for people to talk to and hear their stories.
The MRSH is the perfect entry point for aspiring university students who may not have the resources to be able to move to the city to study. The Hub now gives them the opportunity to gain the same degree right here in the region.
There are hundreds of online courses on offer through the MRSH’s listings, including criminology, business, agriculture, marketing, health, education, IT and more.
