Get to know Jane

May 1, 2025

Starting uni can feel like a whirlwind – especially if you’re studying online in a regional area. But that’s where Jane comes in. As a Student Advisor at the Murray River Study Hub in Murray Bridge, she’s here to make sure students have the support they need to succeed.

From navigating online learning platforms to connecting students with key resources, Jane knows that sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. “The best part of my role is helping students build confidence in their studies,” she says. “Asking questions is the key – once you do, everything gets easier.”

One of her most rewarding moments? Supporting a Year 12 student through the Start University Now program. After completing a university-level physiotherapy unit, they found the confidence to take on a full honours degree, and is now thriving in their studies.

Jane’s top study tip: stay organised. “A study plan, diary, or timetable helps you stay on track,” she advises. “And finding the right study environment, like the Hub, makes a huge difference.”

And if you haven’t heard yet – students who are 18+ and registered with the Hub can apply for 6am – 11:45pm to the space. While it’s not automatic, access is available to those who need it – especially if you’re juggling study with work, parenting or other responsibilities.

When she’s not helping students, you’ll find Jane swimming laps at the Murray Bridge Swimming Centre – or, when the pool’s closed, in the river or the sea. And if she could have dinner with any musician? “Bonnie Raitt or Thelma Plum,” she says.

Need study support? Jane’s here to help – just ask!
