Recognise this familiar face? We’ve been following Daniella’s study journey since she began a Bachelor of Accounting and Business online in 2020. Our hub team helped tee up this incredibly young Riverlander with a traineeship in Loxton in 2021, and she’s been thriving ever since.
Now, she’s graduated and working as a qualified accountant for the same business that took her on three years ago. We caught up with Daniella to look back at the doors that rural study opened, showing that great things happen for your career when you study in your hometown!
Bachelor of Accounting and Business
Daniella first found out about the Study Hub through an Expression of Interest form hung up at her local high school. After connecting with a Student Advisor, she was guided through the uni application process to enrol in a Bachelor of Accounting and Business.
Studying locally took a lot of stress and anxiety off her shoulders. She was able to stay close to family and friends, play sport, save money, and build connections with local accounting firms.

Traineeship at Madden Accountants
After her first year, we set her up with a traineeship in Loxton at Madden Accountants. This helped her transfer classroom learning into practical skills (and earn some money at the same time!).
Daniella was able to juggle her work and study during the week where she could work on her study during the firm’s quieter periods. This type of flexibility is usually something you can only dream about during your studies.

Post-grad life
Now, she’s fresh out of uni working as a qualified accountant at Madden Accountants, leaps and bounds ahead of her classmates. This kind of job stability has freed her from post-grad stress about competing for a foot-in the door.
The sad reality is that graduates are having trouble getting jobs in their field without any practical experience. The competition is so fierce, especially in the city – that having a degree isn’t enough to secure entry-level positions.
That’s the beauty of studying locally, there are more opportunities to gain experience and network while studying, so you’re set up for post-grad life in your dream career.
